Talking to Sasha Miksis, we were quickly impressed with her energy and knowledge of the industry and plant. It didn’t take long to understand that not only does she have a passion for the plant itself, she has a passion for the education and expansion of it’s use in mainstream society. It was for that reason we asked her to be a host for this year’s Golden Tarp Awards.
Sasha is a cannabis enthusiast, a cannabis educator and an event coordinator in the industry. Her work in mental health counseling, yoga teaching, and her graduate studies in psychotherapy have propelled her passion with this plant medicine forward. Through her company Humboldt’s Om Sasha leads educational workshops and classes that fuse cannabis medicine with somatic yoga therapy and she is currently writing a curriculum that will be offered to practitioners within the mental health field to utilize in practice, as this plant medicine becomes more globally recognized.
The Golden Tarp Awards think that since Sasha spends her days introducing the use of cannabis in different and new ways to the uninitiated, she is perfect for what we want to achieve with this Judge’s stream. We want people to learn something new about cannabis from people that are knowledgeable but done in a way that understands that not everyone wants to know about molecular structure of terpenoids and cannabinoids but they do want to know how they can safely, efficiently and effectively use cannabis as a tool to achieve wellness and recreation in the context of their lives. We think the people we will introduce, the conversations you will hear and the people guiding the experience will help bring a different awareness to the production of cannabis and the lives and people involved in it.
We can’t wait for you to join us this Saturday at 11am PST to kick off the livestream and panel speakers at The Mateel. Come join us in person and if you can’t, join in on the chat online for free.
