Finn a.k.a Groove Operator (born Haifine Latapu) was raised in South Sacramento, CA. The first genre of music he ever heard was old Tongan folk music from his parents. He also grew up listening to R&B, Old School, and Soft Rock music–even before Reggae music. Whatever was on the radio, they listened to it. “We didn’t have any money for music tapes or CDs. We only had the radio so we listened to artists like The Jets, Boyz II Men, Jodeci and Sade just to name a few.” It wasn’t until junior high school that he was exposed to Reggae music through church dances and activities.
Walter L, lead singer of band The Code, will be performing an acoustic set. A Hawaiian native who moved to Arizona and pursued a music career performs in a New Reggae band formed in 2013.
About The Code
The Code is a New Reggae band formed in late 2013 ready to bless all of Arizona and The World with their music.
Hardly Deadly is a Grateful Dead tribute band formed in Stockton, California in 2013 by singer / guitarist Dan Murphy (Greenhouse, California Medication), bassist Wristband Scott (Greenhouse, California Medication), and keyboardist Joe Bulum (Take With Food, Gonzo). In 2014 the trio added guitarist Stanley Raquel (Icarus Jones, the Worst), and drummer Gregory Skelton (The Motherfunkers, Sugarfoot). In September of 2014, in true Grateful form, a second drummer, Justin Anderson, was added to the team. While the band has worked hard to learn their favorite songs from the Grateful Dead catalog, they also incorporate their own elements of blues, jazz, country and funk music in to their live shows to pay tribute to the Grateful Dead’s jam band-style improvisation and instrumentals. The band’s current schedule has them playing all the way from the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas to the heart of the Emerald Triangle in lovely Humboldt County. Young and old Deadheads alike are in for a great trip as Hardly Deadly jams on classic Dead tunes like Bertha, China Cat Sunflower, Cassidy, Eyes of the World, Brown Eyed Women, Shakedown Street and many more.
